Anniversary Concert – Bach Mass in B Minor – 25th November 2012

Posted on September 18, 2012

Our special 150th Anniversary Concert will feature an exhibition of choir memorabilia from the past 150 years! (Pictured – the Choir in 1929)

For our patronal festival concert in our 150th Anniversary Year, we’re doing the big one! The only Latin Mass composed by the Lutheran Bach and completed a year before his death, the Mass in B Minor is the culmination of his life’s work, drawing on previously completed music and considered to be one of the greatest achievements of classical music. We are delighted that acclaimed violinist Liz Partridge and her friends have agreed to return to Christ Church again this year to play for us.Rehearsals for the two hour concert have already begun and we are keen to invite friends and former members of the choir to join and sing with us. We hope to put on a display at the back of the church showcasing the choir through the ages, from the very first musical event (the consecration service in 1862, when the organist had to rope in four choristers from St Pauls to sing for the service!) to the present day. If you are in touch with any former members of the choir who would be interested in joining us, please pass their details to Harvey Brink or email
